Ages 6-8
Students learn to use a LabVIEW visual programming language to control LEGO® WeDo, WeDo 2.0, SPIKE Essentials, and other programmable robots. They will build and program their models while exploring a series of cross-curricular, theme-based activities to develop their skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics as well as language, literacy, and social studies. This class is the same level as our after school classes for grades 1-3 with additional and extended curriculum.
Ages 8-10
Students explore more difficult levels of programming using a LabVIEW visual programming language while controlling LEGO® Mindstorms EV3, WeDo 2.0, and various other programable robots and activities. This class is the same level as our after school classes for grades 3-5 with additional and extended curriculum.
Ages 9-11
This class serves as an intermediary class between LabView and RobotC/Python languages. Programs are written in blocks but use coding language to control LEGO® Mindstorms EV3 or Spike Prime robots. Students do not need previous experience, and they are taught everything they need to know to become successful programmers. This level is for those who have taken our after school classes as well as our 8-10 summer/spring break class.
Ages 11-14
We offer two different classes to further enhance coding literacy. Many students benefit from taking RobotC before Python, as RobotC teaches coding structure and fundamentals in a more explicit and guided format.
While we teach all of the fundamentals needed to become successful programmers, even for students with no prior RobotC or Python experience, this level contains our most advanced coursework. Students should be prepared to learn quickly and work through increasingly complex challenges.
To support both new and returning students, we use experience levels within the class so students can work at the pace that fits them best. Students new to RobotC and Python build a strong programming foundation, while returning students take on extended challenges and more advanced projects. When registering, you can select the experience level that best fits your student using the class level option. Because of this structure, many students take this class multiple times and continue progressing each time they return.
RobotC
A structured coding class focused on building strong programming fundamentals and problem-solving skills through increasingly advanced coding projects and challenges.
